The Importance of Grounding yourself during extreme changes

Change is inevitable—but that doesn’t make it easy. Whether it’s a shift in your personal life, the collective energy of the world, or an emotional overload that seems to come out of nowhere, staying grounded is essential. In these moments, connecting with your animal companion and tuning into your energetic body can offer profound support and healing.

When life feels chaotic, grounding brings you back to the present moment. It’s the energetic equivalent of planting your feet firmly on the earth and saying, “I am here. I am centered. I am safe.”

Without grounding, you may feel:

  • Anxious or overwhelmed

  • Disconnected from your body

  • Emotionally reactive

  • Drained of energy

  • Spiritually scattered

Grounding helps you regulate your energy and emotions, strengthen your intuition, and stay centered—especially when the world around you feels unstable.

Animals are natural empaths. They sense your energy shifts and often mirror your emotions. During times of emotional overload, your animal can be a powerful grounding ally.

How do You Connect With Your Pet?

  • Sit quietly with your animal. Place your hand on their body and focus on your breath. Breathe together and let go of anything that doesn’t serve you.

  • Speak to them softly. Share your feelings out loud—they don’t need to understand the words to feel your heart.

  • Match their rhythm. Animals live in the present. Let their calm presence guide you back to the now.

  • Connect Heart to Heart. Feel that connection between you both and communicate love and energy to your animal.

This connection is healing for both of you. As you ground yourself, your animal also benefits from the calm, balanced energy you’re cultivating. In addition, it reassures your devoted animal that you are on a path of well-being, which they feel a duty to help you with.

Here are some tools to help you both stay grounded:

  1. Crown and Root Chakras are the pillars of balance.

    • The Root Chakra (Muladhara) is located at the base of the spine, this chakra keeps you grounded, safe, and secure.

    • Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) is located at the top of the head; it connects you to divine wisdom and universal energy.

When both are strong, you become a bridge between Earth and Spirit—centered, clear, and empowered. This will enable the other Chakras to also clear and align.

  1. Crystals you can use for Grounding:

  • Black Tourmaline: Absorbs negative energy and promotes stability.

  • Smoky Quartz: Transmutes fear and anchors you to the earth.

  • Clear or Rose Quartz: Opens and activates the heart chakra energy to clarity and vitality.

  • Hematite: Enhances focus and physical connection to the body.

  • Red Jasper: Nurtures endurance and emotional strength.

Place these stones in your pocket, under your pillow, or hold them during meditation.

  1. Energy Work to Ease the Storm. Energy healing modalities like Reiki, chakra balancing, Energy Medicine, or sound therapy can help clear stagnant energy and restore flow. These practices:

  • Release emotional blockages and mental clutter

  • Strengthen your energetic boundaries

  • Support nervous system regulation

  • Help you release old emotions

  • Reconnect and realign the physical and spiritual bodies

Even a simple self-clearing ritual—like visualizing white light washing over your body—can be deeply effective.

  1. The Power of Meditation and Clearing can often bring a shedding of the old. Meditation helps you:

  • Let go of outdated beliefs

  • Clear emotional residue

  • Invite in new energy with intention

Here is a Simple Grounding Meditation to get you started:

  1. Sit or lie down comfortably.

  2. Visualize roots growing from your feet into the Earth.

  3. Send down a strong, wide root from your perineum to the center of the earth and attach strongly. Feel the connection.

  4. Breathe deeply, feeling the Earth’s support rise up through your body.

  5. Imagine a beam of light entering your crown, connecting you to Source.

  6. Stay here for 5–10 minutes, allowing balance to return.

When collective energies are heightened—astrological shifts, solar flares, or global events—you may feel more sensitive, emotional, or fatigued. This is not a sign of weakness, but of awakening.

These energies are here to shake loose what no longer serves you and make space for transformation. Grounding, connecting with your animal (both those with you now and any who may have passed over to the rainbow realm), and tuning into your energy body helps you move through this with grace.

In times of change, remember you are supported. By the Earth beneath you, the animals beside you, and the energy that flows through you. Grounding is not just a practice—it’s a return to your true self.
