How we can learn from the Owl

As with many other animals in nature, the Owl tends to take only one partner in life. However, they will find another partner if something happens. But each partner is dedicated to raising the owlets. While the male goes off to hunt for food the female stays back protecting and keeping her owlets warm from the elements.

What many don’t know is that Owls will many times take over an empty nest and return to the same nest as long as it’s still intact as they work to make it their own. However, there are various types of Owls and even though some will nest in trees others will find barns or building perches as well as ground nests. They are quite skilled in nest building whether that be to refresh a nest or build it from scratch.

In most cases they will lay anywhere from 3 – 4 eggs however, the owl will only lay as many eggs as the food source will allow. If the area is not as plentiful with prey, they will only lay 1 – 2 eggs.

As with many animals in the wild, Owls have extremely sensitive ears to hear their prey from miles away and locate exactly where they are. Owls are also one of the greatest hunters as they usually have more success than most animals when it comes to finding dinner for both themselves and their owlets.

In many cultures, the symbol of the Owl means inner wisdom and intuition due to their keen sense of sound and sight. Owl is also a symbol of being able to navigate any darkness in our life; this Spirit brings clarity, prophetic inklings, and a strong connection with the mystical world. Learn how the Owl can help you.

With all this information, how exactly can we learn from the Owl?

  • Listen more intently to your surroundings. When you take the time to close your mouth and listen you become more aware of your surroundings, and of the people and energy around you.

  • Allow yourself to seek clarity in the midst of darkness so you learn to trust your native intuition and instincts.

  • Being adaptable. As with the Owl, they adapt to their surroundings based on the food source. When you allow yourself to be more adaptable to situations, you can manage challenges in more productive ways.

  • Appreciating what you have. As with the Owl, they tend to find nests that are empty instead of having to build one from scratch. By being grateful for what you have and making the best of your situation you allow yourself to be open to more possibilities.

As you can see there is much to learn from the Owl.

Here’s to learning from nature.
